The victory was Gareth Taylor’s side’s third straight win of the new season and maintained our place at the top of the U18 Premier League table.
Our strikes came from an Andy Nelson first half own goal with Oscar Bobb and skipper Cole Palmer then finding the target in the second half.
What happened
City travelled to Teesside looking to build on the promise of convincing wins over West Brom and Newcastle in our opening two fixtures.
However, we found ourselves trailing when Josh Coburn opened the scoring for Boro just past the half hour mark.
Taylor’s young charges weren’t behind for long, however.
On 38 minutes we were back on level terms when Andy Nelson put through his under net under pressure from City’s strike force.
In a game played out amidst glorious sunshine, City then seized control after the break.
Summer signing Oscar Bobb made a dramatic impact after coming on as a 69th minute substitute, firing home within 60 seconds for his second consecutive strike from the bench to give City the lead.
And the victory was all but secured seven minutes when skipper Cole Palmer latched onto James McAtee’s through ball to complete another fine afternoon’s work for Taylor’s squad.
How we lined up
James Trafford was in goals shielded by a back four of Finley Burns, Sammy Robinson, Oscar Tarensi and CJ Egan-Riley.
Lewis Fiorini, Luke Mbete-Tabu and Cole Palmer made up the midfield trio with Liam Delap, James McAtee and Josh Wilson-Esbrand deployed further forward.
What’s next
Our Under-18s are back in action at the CFA next Saturday when we play host to Everton. Kick-off is 11am.
