Back in action after a three-week break, Gareth Taylor’s side started the Under 18 Premier League clash on the front foot, dominating both possession and chances in an impressive opening 45 minutes.
Ben Knight came closest to forcing the breakthrough for City with Newcastle forced onto the defensive for large parts of the first half.
Our dominance continued in the early part of the second half and was finally rewarded on the hour.
Henri Ogunby rounded off another impressive City attack by beating Magpies keeper Daniel Langley to give the young Blued a deserved lead.
However, Newcastle summoned up a late response and with seven minutes left on the clock drew level.
Jamie Young successfully converted from the penalty spot after referee Jamie Cann had awarded the hosts a spot-kick.
It was a frustrating finale for the young Blues who enjoyed 65 per cent of the possession and carved out 16 chances to Newcastle’s nine.

James Trafford was in goal shielded by a back four of Alpha Dionkou, skipper Rowan McDonald, Yeboah Amankwah and Ryan Corrigan.
Lewis Fiorini, Tommy Doyle and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru formed our midfield trio with D’Margio Wright-Phillips, Ben Knight and Henri Ogunby spearheading the Blues’ attack.
