Visiting Bengaluru as part of the Club’s participation in Premier League Live, play-off hero, Paul Dickov, and ex-No.1, Shay Given, took the time to experience a matchday in the city as they joined the local supporters’ club to watch the Stoke game.
Fans were treated to a scintillating 7-2 victory and it proved to be a fantastic event for both the Bengaluru Supporters’ Club and the two ex-players alike.
“It was incredible to see the passion and enthusiasm of our Indian supporters’ clubs first hand,” said Dickov.
“Watching the Stoke game with them in their local bar is something I will cherish forever. We’re lucky to have such dedicated fans.”
The former striker threw himself into the Indian experience, enjoying an exclusive tour of the city with Bengaluru Supporters’ Club chairman, Varun Shetty and joining fans for a number of activities at the Premier League Live event.
Indian Blues were also able to quiz Dickov and Given at a special question and answer session, where the duo were more than happy to pose for selfies and sign autographs.
“Having Manchester City over to Bengaluru was quite literally one of the most thrilling experiences of my life,” added Varun.
“I’ve idolised people like Paul for what they’ve done for the Club and to meet him in person was just fascinating.
“And Shay is a Premier League legend, so to interact with him was great!”
Meanwhile, the Cityzens Kerala branch joined Bengaluru in receiving their commemorative supporters’ club plaques and Given was delighted to spend time with such passionate Blues.
“I was blown away by the amount of City fans at Premier League Live,” he explained.
“The Club’s growing popularity in India is clear for all to see.
“It was great to meet so many fans in the City tents and around the park. I can’t wait to go back.”
