Throughout the month of October, City in the Community (CITC) celebrated turning 35 and marked the milestone with a range of activities and events, engaging people of all ages from Greater Manchester.

The charity had a huge 35th anniversary prize draw, including prizes of Etihad flights, a meet and greet with Jack Grealish and signed football shirts, which raised over ten thousand pounds. Prize draw winners can be found here.

Special social media moments included happy birthday videos, competitions and bonus CityTV features with players from the women and men’s teams.

Several players visited sessions including John Stones, who dialled into CITC’s new mental health programme, City Thrive, Rodri who attended a Premier League Primary Stars session and decorated cakes with participants and Steph Houghton who visited a BTEC girls training session.

A new trustee was also announced in the form on former Manchester City player Nedum Onuoha, who joins eight other Board Members who meet quarterly to discuss strategic priorities and decisions for the charity.

The month was book-ended with two matchday takeovers. Firstly, at City’s FA Women’s Super League match against West Ham, then at City’s Premier League home game against Crystal Palace at the end of the month.

Matchday takeovers included kids fan zones prior to the matches where young fans had the opportunity to get involved in some fun games, selfie frame photo opportunities, CITC staff pitch-side interviews and special CITC branded stations showcasing the variety of activities and programmes.

CITC would like to thank all of its staff, fans and participants not just for their support during their birthday month, but for their continued support.
