City in the Community (CITC) has recently been celebrating its second year BTEC students who have completed the charity’s BTEC programme.

More than 100 second year students, across all sixth form and colleges that the team currently delivers to, attended a special celebration event at the Etihad Stadium in the Tunnel Club.

Staff and students were treated to food and drinks before participating in an award ceremony and presentation, looking back on their two years with CITC and commemorating all they have achieved.

11+ Manager, Jonathan Pauley, said: “The event was a great opportunity to bring all the students and staff together to highlight what has been an excellent two years.

“The students have worked tirelessly to ensure they are successful with their education, and thoroughly deserved the opportunity to celebrate all their achievements!

“Congratulations to the CITC BTEC and college staff as well. Without such positive partnerships, events like this wouldn’t be possible!”

The programme provides an opportunity for students who are passionate about football and their education, to combine the two as part of this course.

The curriculum provides students with an insight into what life would be like coaching in an academy session, through the way in which CITC staff deliver sessions.

The team currently delivers in four sixth form and colleges, Oldham College, Cheadle College, Ashton Sixth Form and Connell College.

Coaches are able to adapt their approach, the content and physical activity sessions in order to best meet the requirements of the college/group that they are working with.
