The new initiative develops upon the standard model, where a CITC coach would support a secondary school one day a week, with an aim to create greater opportunities for young people to benefit from the imitative.
The five-day model brings together both Premier League Inspires sessions, alongside CITC Mentoring and mental health workshops, with an purpose to give schools a more holistic, wraparound offer.
Learners benefit from consistent support that connects their personal development, wellbeing and learning. Trusted mentors with lived experience and the knowledge to understand learners’ needs can help them build confidence, talk through challenges and access the right support.
The new model can be tailored to the setting, with three options on offer to settings wishing to implement the five-day session model.
Option A:
Two days of Inspires, one day of mental health support, one day of mentoring and one day of pastoral float.
Option B:
Four days of Inspires and one day of pastoral float.
Option C:
Three days of Inspires, one day of mental health support and one day of mentoring delivery.
Community Mentoring Officer, Alisha Bethell, commented on the poignance of the five-day model, saying: “I’m really excited to offer this model to schools across Greater Manchester.
“We are passionate about providing a well-rounded, holistic programme that gives young people access to support throughout the week.
“By working closely with schools, our City in the Community staff can build trusted relationships, respond to learners’ needs and make a lasting difference - helping every young person develop, thrive and reach their full potential.”
