Three students from the City Degree course, who hail from across the world, reflected on their time with the charity and what it has been like to come to new country to develop their skills and education.
During the chat, the students spoke about what it was like for them to live in Manchester and how both CITC and Manchester Metropolitan University are helping them become to coaches they are today.
Ethan, a second year participant from California, described how his time being on the course has impacted him.
He said: “As soon as I joined, I realised I was on the right path and it’s so good that I’m able to get the experience I get on this course, while I’m so young.
“I would definitely recommend it to anyone.”
Third year participant, Hann, moved from South Korea for the course, and explained what it was like being part of it: “Being part of the course is great, you get so many unique opportunities, which you would not get in other places, like the placements and the facilities at City Football Academy.
“Before I came here, I had never heard about community coaching and this course has helped me learn so much.”
The City Degree programme brings together CITC’s community football coaching knowledge with Manchester Metropolitan’s academic expertise, providing students with the skills and experience to help them find success in coaching.
The programme sits under CITC’s Healthy Futures pillar, which aims to create education pathways and support employability by providing qualifications and skills required to progress into further education, employment and training.
Requirements for international students gaining a place on the course vary dependant on country and grading systems.
