CITC invited partner schools to come and get involved in the activities, which included learning about how nutrition, mindfulness and physical activity helps mental health, as well as which coping strategies can help your mental health.
Jason El-Kaleh, Community Outreach Officer said: “It is important to provide access to mental health support for participants of all ages, across all of our programmes.
“Through these events we can provide coping strategies for primary school children to consider using if they are ever feeling down, as well as always encouraging them to talk to someone if they don’t feel good.”
From September 2021 to August 2022 CITC delivered City Thrive sessions at 36 venues across Greater Manchester.
CITC’s City Thrive programme aims to promote positive mental health for young people aged 14-25.
A dedicated team has developed a mental health curriculum, combining specially adapted football sessions with one-to-one mentoring and group workshops on mental health awareness, to improve mental wellbeing.
Manchester City Academy Coach, Jamie Carr also attended the event. Jamie is raising money for CITC’s City Thrive programme as part of his Nothing Ventured Campaign which sees him row solo across the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua.
Jamie has previously completed six ultra-marathons, in six days, across the Sahara Desert as part of his first challenge of his Nothing Ventured Campaign.
