The Club’s Charity, City in the Community (CITC), is celebrating National Volunteer Week (June 1-7) by highlighting the impact of its 93:20 volunteer programme.

Inspired by that famous ‘AGUEROOO’ moment which saw City claim our maiden Premier League crown in 2012, the 93:20 programme aims to give 20 volunteers the opportunity to complete 93 hours of volunteer work across CITC programmes, giving them the opportunity to go out and get a feel for what it is really like to become a coach.

A 93:20 volunteer, Reece, said: “It is a great programme to get involved in. Everyone enjoys it, everyone has a laugh with each other.

“I enjoy being a volunteer for City in the Community. At the sessions you are seen more as a coach than a volunteer, so you feel respected and feel truly a part of CITC.”

A member of the CITC team will then be assigned a participant and mentor them, becoming part of their journey offering advice, support and guidance using their own experience as well as giving participants the opportunity to learn about CV writing and interview skills.

93:20 is part of the charity’s Healthy Futures pillar, which aims to create education and employability pathways.

Community Outreach Mentoring Officer, Jack Byram, said: “Having been a volunteer myself I have a true passion for this programme enabling like-minded people to develop, whilst impacting the local community in a positive way.”
