CITC participant Humzah, has completed a 1,000,000-step challenge, all to raise funds for City in the Community (CITC)!

Humzah, 20, set himself the challenge of completing 1,000,000 steps over lockdown, which he completed successfully.

Following Humzah’s initial success, he decided to take things one step further… well one million steps further actually, by repeating his challenge but this time to raise funds for CITC!

This 1,000,000-step challenge was also incorporated into CITC’s Saturday sessions for participants with down Syndrome, Dwarfism, and visually impairments, where participants completed activity online over Zoom during lockdown, or at Connell College when restrictions were lifted.

With the help of his sister, Humzah set himself the target of raising £250 for CITC, which he quickly surpassed. By the time Humzah had completed his challenge, he’d raised well over £1,700!

Great work Humzah!

To celebrate Humzah’s success and perseverance in completing his challenge, as well as his fantastic fundraising work, Community Outreach Lead Coach Paul Kelly, visited Humzah to present him with a thank you gift from all the team at CITC.

As a huge Sergio Aguero fan, Paul was delighted to present Humza with a signed Aguero shirt, saying,

“We’re so impressed with Humza and his determination to complete his challenge, all while raising funds for CITC. He’s been involved with CITC for a long time, so to see him progress through our courses, and now fundraise for us too has been fantastic.

“I know he’s inspired a lot of the CITC team with his attitude and ‘can do’ spirit and will hopefully inspire other to get involved with fundraising for CITC or causes close to them.

“We hope he enjoys his signed shirt, and we look forward to seeing Humza and all our participants as we continue to deliver our Saturday morning sessions.”

Humzah, has been a CITC participant for over 8 years, starting with our delivery in Melland SEN school and our ‘One City’ schools leagues. Soon he progressed to our Junior Pan Disability sessions and then onto CITC DS football sessions.
