Children in Manchester will once again be able to benefit from free football sessions and healthy lunches during half-term thanks to City in the Community.

Manchester City’s Official Foundation will welcome thousands of youngsters back to its Soccer Schools, which are being delivered across the city between Monday, May 31 and Friday, June 4.

2,400 healthy meals will also be made available to families across East Manchester, Hulme and Wythenshawe, whether they are taking part in the Soccer School sessions or not.

All three collection points will each have 100 nutritious meals available every day of half-term between 11am – 1pm.

The lunches will be made from locally sourced, fresh ingredients developed by Manchester Mind’s ‘Food for All’ food hub.

All families who wish to collect meals must sign-up in advance and can do so by completing the form below. Once registered, a confirmation will be sent with an address and collection timeslot.

CITC’s Soccer Schools uses the brand of Manchester City to engage participants in open access football, increasing physical activity throughout the school holidays with regular sessions in communities across the city.

Participants are provided with free full day structured coaching sessions as well as free food provision at all sites to tackle holiday hunger in the most deprived areas of the city.

City in the Community’s Community Outreach Manager, Martin Ingham-Griffith, said: “Soccer Schools have been running since the creation of City in the Community almost 35 years ago.

“The team as passionate as ever about providing local children with access to free football and healthy meals during the school holidays.

“Holiday hunger is just as prevalent now than ever, which is why we are proud to be able to expand our free food provision to more families and youngsters, rather than just Soccer School participants.

“We would call on anyone who thinks that a free lunch might benefit their family during the Easter holidays to register your interest as soon as possible.”
