City in the Community (CITC) has recently worked with Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnerships taking part in a workshop about supporting people living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

Greater Manchester Health and Social Care have a campaign specific to Alcohol Exposed Pregnancies called #DRYMESTER

Staff took part in a virtual workshop where they got involved in discussions, asking questions and found out more about the harms of drinking alcohol during pregnancy and understand FASD.

A prevalence study last year found that 3.6% of children in Greater Manchester could be affected by FASD.

One staff member who took part in the session said: “It gave us a great insight in FASD and is applicable to the children and young people that we work with.”

In February Greater Manchester Health and Social Care launched a ‘Spread the Word’ campaign aimed at organisations to introduce the #DRYMESTER conversation to their employees, as part of their wellbeing agendas.

Another staff member added: “It was a really eye-opening session that provided us with some really useful content and some really useful resources.”
