City in the Community (CITC) are once again supporting National Child Safety Week, through seven days of activities and workshops across their programmes.

National Child Safety Week is an annual campaign spearheaded by Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) which aims to act as a catalyst for safety conversations and activities up and down the country.

With water, emergency services, gaming and road safety being the focal topics of the week for CITC, there is a real emphasis on the safety issues most relevant for the time over the summer school holidays when children are out of their normal school routine.

Deborah Glynn, Safeguarding Officer at CITC said: “CITC cares about all of our participants and as we enter the summer months and schools close for the summer break, there is time for fun with lots of outside play and hopefully sunny days.

“This time of year can bring some added risks for children and families and we want to help make sure that our participants are safe and healthy.

“Through our workshops and resources, we are keen to raise help raise awareness and share our knowledge to empower participants to keep themselves and others safe when around water, gaming, out and about on the roads and awareness around the emergency services.”

Keep an eye across their social media channels (Twitter: @CITCtweets, Facebook and Instagram: @CITCManCity) for tips and advice on how to stay safe this summer.

CITC are also handing out their ‘Safety Card’ to share with their participants which asks you people seven key points for when they are out and about in the local community independently.

These questions encourage participants to plan ahead, think about how they can keep themselves safe and also discuss with adult family members.
