The Club’s Charity, City in the Community (CITC), is celebrating the return of its 93:20 volunteer programme for 2023, with a new cohort of participants.

Inspired by the iconic ‘Sergio AGUEROOO’ title-clinching moment back in 2012, the 93:20 programme aims to give 20 volunteers the opportunity to complete 93 hours of volunteer work across CITC programmes, giving the opportunity to go out and get a feel for what it is really like to become a coach.

A member of the CITC team will then be assigned a participant and mentor them.

They become part of their journey, offering advice, support and guidance using their own experience as well as giving participants the opportunity to learn about CV writing and interview skills.

93:20 is part of the charity’s Healthy Futures pillar, which aims to create education and employability pathways.

Jack Byram, Community Outreach Mentoring Officer, said: “Having been a volunteer myself, I have a true passion for this programme enabling like-minded people to develop, whilst impacting the local community in a positive way.

“I am really looking forward to watching individuals’ journeys, growth and progression throughout the next coming months.”

Jodie, a new volunteer to the 93:20 programme said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting new people from all types of backgrounds and getting to work with them and helping people in the community do what they love.”

Georgia Dickinson, Community Outreach Lead Coach, further commented: “The group of volunteers and mentors this year look to be our strongest yet and I am looking forward to working alongside both to see how far we can push the programme to develop these young people.

“We have a great opportunity to impact these young people and the communities we work within by the 93:20 program and create a lot of new role models at our sessions and projects for the participants we work with to look up to.”
