National Child Safety Week is an annual campaign spearheaded by Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) which aims to act as a catalyst for safety conversations and activities up and down the country.
With water, road safety, summer safety, ‘be streetwise’ and ‘don’t go, say No!’ being the focal topics of the week for CITC, there is a real emphasis on the safety issues most relevant at this time of the year with the build up to the summer holidays when children are out of the normal school routine with warmer weather and lighter nights.
CITC Safeguarding Manager, Deborah Glynn said: “CITC cares about all of our participants and as we enter the summer months and schools close there is time for lots of activities and fun outdoors.”
“This time of year, can bring some added risks for children and young people and we want to play our part in raising awareness to help make sure that our participants are safe.”
“Through our activities and resources, we are keen to share our knowledge on key topical areas, with participants and their families and the wider community to encourage everybody to think and empower them about ways that they can keep themselves and others safe.”
