The network, which was established in 2018, has been designed to create an environment where ideas and feedback can be shared between the Club and its fans so that new initiatives can be introduced to benefit everyone who supports Manchester City.
In total, City Matters consists of ten voluntary members elected by our fans, to represent key fan groups including: Families, Under 25s, Seasonal Hospitality, LGBTQ+, Disabled Supporters, Women, Black Asian or of Mixed Heritage, Over 65s, Season Ticket Members and Official Supporters Club.
Full Group meetings (with all representatives in attendance) take place with the Club every 6-8 weeks at City Football Academy. As well as enabling representatives to put forward ideas, the meetings provide a forum where representatives can help to shape and influence Club initiatives. At these meetings, the Club also shares key operational updates and information relating to upcoming projects.
In between full group meetings, various Sub-Groups meet with the Club to focus on specific areas including: Catering, Sustainability, Ticketing & Hospitality, and Diversity & Inclusion. City Matters representatives are able to put themselves forward to join any of these groups, in addition to the fan group they were elected to represent.
The application window for a new Over 65s and Season Ticket Members representative is now open.
If you are interested in applying to join City Matters, you need to complete an online application form by clicking here. This includes a submission of no more than 400 words as to why you would be best placed to represent one of the above groups.
You have until 11:59pm on Sunday 21st August to apply to become a City Matters representative and following this, an internal panel will review each of the applications before publishing a final shortlist of candidates for a fan vote.
The fan vote will open on the Club’s website on Monday 29th August. Fans with a supporter number will then have 7 days to vote for their preferred candidates with the vote closing at 11:59pm, Sunday 4th September.
The candidate with the most votes for both the Over 65s and Season Ticket Members will be elected to City Matters and will join the first meeting of the season with the Club on the 8th of September.
Season Ticket Members over the age of 65 will also receive a letter by post and will be offered an alternative voting method, if they are unable to vote online.
More information about the application process is detailed in the recruitment pack available to access here.
