Cityzens Giving for Recovery, City Football Group’s ground-breaking 12-month recovery drive, is bringing together its nine clubs, thousands of staff, and millions of fans, to help communities get back on their feet in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of Cityzens Giving for Recovery, we are matching donations for the funding of nine recovery-linked projects near each of our clubs*.

In a special series, we take a closer look at the projects earmarked in each of our nine chosen locations.

We’ve been supporting the emergency COVID-19 response through almost £1,000,000 of donations, in-kind support, and loaning of facilities.

Now we are aiming to deliver a minimum of another £1,000,000 of funding and support by introducing Cityzens Giving for Recovery, a 12-month campaign which will focus our donations, expertise, facilities, resources, and voice, on making a positive difference to the recovery of our communities.

We will be matching pound for pound donations for the funding of nine recovery-linked projects near to each of our clubs.

CITYZENS GIVING FOR RECOVERY: DONATE TO GIRONA PROJECT NOW

We are asking our fans to help us reach our targets by donating the specific project that means most to you – and we will match your donation.*

Our next spotlight falls on Girona.

In Girona, increased numbers of children and adolescents have been disproportionately affected by the Coronavirus crisis.

Many young people from at-risk communities already faced difficulties in school prior to the crisis and dropped out early.

Due to the economic impact of the pandemic, even more families find themselves in a precarious situation and are concerned about the impact of school closures, reduced timetables, and a lack of socio-economic support for their children.

This project will support the most at-risk children and young people to get the support they need to return to education safely.

Young Leaders and volunteers will support with homework and tutoring, as well as offering a wider set of education resources to support the development of key life skills. Health kits and COVID prevention education will be provided, as well as nutritious food parcels to boost health and well being.

The wider community will also be engaged to provide support and long-term engagement in keeping children safe.

Girona Red Cross worker Laia said: “The project will support at-risk children to get the support they need to return to education and alleviate social inequalities.
