In New York City, the pandemic has significantly exacerbated systemic challenges for marginalised communities in accessing healthy, fresh, affordable food.

Since the start of the pandemic and restrictions in New York, this project has addressed these challenges to support the recovery of people affected in South Bronx.

New York Common Pantry and City in the Community are working collaboratively to support families throughout the pandemic.

NYCP’s Live Healthy! team have continued to provide food through their farmshare programme, supporting those most in need, and have worked closely with City in the Community to provide education on healthy eating directly to the families of young people from their local programmes.

Young Leaders have supported the distribution of food, educating young people and their families about the benefits of healthy eating for individual and community health and building wider community engagement.

They have been instrumental in supporting young people and their families within the South Bronx area throughout winter.

The Young Leaders worked together to provide meals during Thanksgiving in November and worked together to deliver football equipment and toys to families throughout December.
