Young Leaders took part in football-based sessions on mental health, nutrition and well-being, led by City in the Community coaches.
Physical and mental health are pressing issues facing young people all around the world today, and Young Leaders are using the power of football to promote healthier, active lifestyles, mental well-being, respect and inclusion in their communities.
Viulka, a young leader from Philadelphia said: “It’s been a really good and challenging first day. We learnt some skills and techniques that we can incorporate in our programmes no matter what resources you have available. We shared ideas, discussed mental health, nutrition, and the importance of giving everyone a voice.”
Jewel from Washington DC added: “I liked that all the games and activities involved teamwork and building on each other’s ideas. We learnt three different activities from other organisations, so it was great to expand on my activity bank to take back to the kids in DC.”
In the afternoon, the group enjoyed a tour of the Etihad Stadium and had the chance to go pitch-side at the home of the 21/22 Premier League Champions!
