Over 400 Young Leaders from 45 cities around the world have taken part in Cityzens Giving’s third online Global Forum of the season supported by Official Technology Partner Cisco.

The Global Forums, taking place on Webex by Cisco, were a new initiative for the 2021/22 season, and have provided a regular opportunity for Young Leaders to connect with each other and with City in the Community coaches to share learning and innovation on using the power of football to uplift the health and wellbeing of young people in their communities.

Launched in November, the Forums have covered three topics that are all key pillars of the Cityzens Giving Young Leader programme: Community Coaching, Social Impact and Project Management.

Today’s third and final Forum of the season focused on Project Management, with Young Leaders receiving bespoke pre-event materials, before participating in a live 90-minute interactive discussion and putting their learnings into practice through a post-event task.

Over the course of the season, 1,000 Young Leaders have engaged in the Global Forums, delivered in five different languages across six continents.

Gareth Hughes, International Programmes Manager at City Football Foundation, said: “It has been fantastic to see how our Young Leaders all around the world have connected with our Global Forums this season.

“We hope the content and conversations had in these online forums will continue to inspire them to develop as coaches and leaders in their local communities.”

Valeria, a Young Leader in Mexico City, added: “I’ve benefited from the Global Forums via Webex because we learn about different types of coaching that we can do and how to deliver it so that the children at our project enjoy it.

“We’re also able to hear about experiences of other Young Leaders, which we can bring back to our respective communities.”

“We are thrilled to continue our support of Cityzens Giving through the successful Global Forums,” said Christina Leong, Global Sports Marketing Manager at Cisco.

“There is no better way for us to live out our corporate purpose to power an inclusive future than by using our technology to bring people together. We look forward to continuing to support the Young Leaders and the important work they are doing to positively impact their local communities.”

The Global Forums are a key part of Cityzens Giving’s digital learning network, which drives year-round connectivity across projects and Young Leaders globally.

Launched in July 2020, off the back of our first ever virtual Young Leaders Summit, the digital network has fostered connectivity and collaboration between projects, equipping more than 1,000 Young Leaders with the skills, confidence and support systems they need to continue improving the lives of city kids through football.
