Last season, the City Esports duo were crowned the ePremier League champions and made history in the process.
They helped the Club become the first team to win the title twice. Tekkz also made history himself, becoming the first pro player to win the title on two occasions.
Now, they are both looking forward to the challenge of being the first team to win the ePremier League in consecutive campaigns.
“I’m always excited for the ePremier League and this year is no different,” began Tekkz.
“Last year was great and I’m hoping Mati and I can do it again this year.
“The competition is really hard this year, there’s some really good players coming to the league for the first time so it’s going to be an interesting season.
“The ePrem has its own ruleset, we can only use players who play or have played in the Premier League so we’ve just been adjusting to how we can build our teams and using players that suit our game style.
“It’s not the first time I’ve gone into the ePrem as the reigning champion but hopefully this year we can do better and defend it – no one has done that yet!
“And winning the ePrem for a third time would be massive for me. As I said no one has ever defended the ePremier League so I think that would be a massive achievement.”
Mati is also looking to extend his league-winning run in March. Before joining City, the Argentine won the Argentina league, then the eLa Liga and then the ePremier League in successive seasons.
It would be a fantastic resume to add a fourth league trophy in as many seasons before the end of the 2024/25 season.
“I’m looking forward to being back in competition. The ePrem is a great event and representing Manchester City is always incredible,” said Mati.
“Winning last season was incredible, playing with Tekkz was great and I hope we can do it again this year.
“I don’t mind the pressure [of trying to retain the title], I am ok with it. I just want to focus on my game, help Tekkz and hope we can win the title again.
“It would be incredible! Last year the Club was the first to win two title and if we won this year we’d be the first to defend the title. It would be incredible.”
