Ellie Roebuck is loving being involved with City in the Community’s Christmas campaign – and says the fact it’s a partnership with supporters makes it extra special.

‘A Time for Giving’ sees us team up with you, our fans, as we come together to fund thousands of hours of free football, supporting the health of young people in Manchester.

The concept is simple - for every purchase a fan makes from a range of selected Christmas retail clothing items*, available online and in the City Store, the Club will donate £5 to its charity, City in the Community (registered charity no. 1139229).

Or supporters can make additional donations at the tills in the Etihad Stadium store, when checking out online during their purchase journey for match tickets and via www.mancity.com/CITC.

We will match these donations to increase the overall funds for City in the Community football programmes, up to the value of £75,000*.

Roebuck stresses that, as well as doing good in the community, the campaign also highlights the fantastic work driven forward off the field by City.

She said: “Supporters often focus on what happens on the pitch and, here at City, we’ve got so many good teams performing at the highest level.

“But there’s so much fantastic work that goes on away from the pitch too and this year’s Christmas campaign is a prime example of that.

“City in the Community do so much good all year round and I’m so pleased to be involved in this latest project for the festive season.

“I love that ‘A Time for Giving’ is a partnership between the Club and our fans to fund thousands of hours of free football, which will support the health of young people in Manchester.

“I just think it’s wonderful that by teaming up together, we’re providing opportunities for young kids to play the game.

“Christmas is such a special time of year and I feel extra special to be supporting this campaign.”

Roebuck isn’t the only women’s player to be part of ‘A Time for Giving’.

Laia Aleixandri has also become a face of the campaign.

City No.4 Aleixandri says ‘A Time for Giving’ showcases the family feel she’s experienced at City since arriving in July 2022 from Atletico Madrid.

She added: “Since I joined Manchester City, I have felt very strongly that it’s a family club that sticks together all the time.

“I think you can see that togetherness in this Christmas campaign.

“I know that City in the Community is doing great work – and the fans are definitely playing their part, too.

“I know that the first figures to be announced were £40,000 raised, which is an incredible start.

“I am proud to be involved and feel sure that number will continue to go up and will ensure there are so many happy children enjoying free football in 2023. That’s really fantastic.”

Items which include a £5 donation to City in the Community through the Christmas campaign are:

  • Christmas jumpers
  • Pyjama set
  • Dressing gown
  • Fair isle hat and scarf set

A £5 donation, matched by the Club, will enable a young person to enjoy four hours of free football and a healthy lunch in the school holidays in 2023.

Fans can purchase their Christmas retail clothing items and make matched donations to City in the Community until midnight on the 31 December 2022.

Most recent numbers show that almost £43,000 has been raised by fans, staff, partners, Official Supporters Clubs and City in the Community supporters, which will be matched by the Club. Christmas clothing retail items have also generated over £11,500.
