The event, which will be the first of its kind in Manchester, is aimed at matching local people with viable job opportunities and will showcase pathways into new careers and training courses.
To ensure the opportunities on offer are as broad and wide ranging as possible, the Club has actively approached businesses from a variety of sectors who can offer roles from entry level apprenticeships to full time employment.
As part of the ‘Market Place’ Manchester City will also deliver a series of workshops led by Club representatives to provide practical career advice and guidance, as well as inspire and encourage attendees to pursue their career goals.
The event builds on City Football Group’s Cityzens Giving for Recovery programme, a 12-month initiative launched in June 2020 to focus donations, expertise, facilities, resources and voice, on making a positive difference to the recovery of communities.
Whilst further details about the Market Place event and the Covid secure protocols that will be in place will be announced in due course, anyone in Manchester who is currently looking for employment opportunities or a change in career can register their interest now by emailing: marketplace@mancity.com.
The event is subject to changes in the government’s roadmap and Step 4, which is due to begin from Monday 21 June onwards.
Commenting on the Club’s ‘Market Place’ jobs fair, Pete Bradshaw, Director of Sustainability at Manchester City said: “Manchester has endured numerous challenges over the past year and as the city recovers from the pandemic we know that there are many people in our community who will be seeking new opportunities in training and employment.
“Manchester City’s ‘Market Place’ jobs fair has been designed specifically with these people in mind.
“The two day event, which is the first of its kind in Manchester, will bring together organisations who are offering job opportunities and the people who are looking for them.
“Alongside this, the Club will deliver a series of workshops led by Manchester City representatives offering local people practical advice and guidance to help them on their career journey.
“We have no doubt that Manchester’s recovery from the pandemic will be a strong one and we are proud to play our part to support that.”
Councillor Luthfur Rahman, Executive Member for Skills, Culture and Leisure for Manchester City Council added: “Events like this provide opportunities for Manchester people to realise their potential and they are more important than ever now as the city looks to emerge from the economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Having so many different employers and opportunities under one roof, including apprenticeships where people can learn on the job, shows that despite the challenges of the times the city can still offer lots of routes into employment.
“Many of the city’s businesses have continued to recruit during the pandemic and there has been a growth in employment opportunities in health and social care, education and digital in particular.”
