A new committee has been formed for the Former Players Association (FPA).

Joe Corrigan is now the vice chairman, Ian Brightwell treasurer, Ian Mellor will take on the role of communications coordinator, while Keith Hanvey is the coordinator and Michelle Hampshaw the secretary.

Francis Lee is the chairman and Tony Book is the president.

The new committee has been formed because – after many years of sterling work - Roy Cheetham, Fred Eyre, Steve Fleet and John Williamson felt they were unable to carry on in their capacities on the committee.

Funds for the FPA re raised by different events - predominantly a golf day and an end of season dinner usually held at the Etihad Stadium - but these are yet to happen and have had to be put on hold due to the pandemic.

Since the formation of the new committee, we have sadly lost Roy Cheetham and Glyn Pardoe who was another great help for the FPA.

With the invaluable help from Fred Eyre, we are trying to continue the great work they started many years ago and try and assist ex-City players if they might have fallen on hard times and in the event of someone passing away, a donation of £250 will be made to a charity of the family’s choice.

When anyone passes away, it is obviously a great loss and often felt far and wide if they have been in any way associated with City.

The FPA will continue to support our former players and families.
