Day four of the Young Leaders Summit saw a surprise visit from City legends Joleon Lescott and Shaun Wright-Phillips who dropped in to meet the young leaders and find out more about their projects.

Joleon and Shaun attended a youth-led project showcase before joining a five-a-side football tournament with young leaders and City staff.

The Young Leaders were challenged to put their presentation and networking skills into practice, and to capture the imaginations of those attending the project showcase.

Reflecting on the day, Shaun Wright-Phillips said: “Today was a very special experience.

“After my recent trip to Cityzens Giving projects in Bangalore and Mumbai, it was amazing to reconnect with some of the young leaders in Manchester and to meet others from all over the world.

“Their passion and dedication to using the power of football for social good is truly inspiring.”

Also on day four, young leaders enjoyed interactive sessions on online safety and first aid followed by a special training session in football and water education, developed in partnership with Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem.

Xylem volunteers helped to inspire the young leaders around water challenges and solutions, and joined in with football-based drills to educate young children on safe handwashing.
