Manchester City will see Sergio Aguero take on Oleksandr Zinchenko, Georgia Stanway battle it out against teammate Ellie Roebuck and City’s pro esports player Ryan Pessoa play City legend Joleon Lescott.
City is also teaming up with its partners Faze Clan, the world’s unmatched leader in competitive esports and pop culture to see their player FaZe Tass go head-to-head with City’s Shellzz.
With on-the-pitch action limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, eight CFG clubs – Manchester City, New York City FC, Melbourne City FC, Yokohama F. Marinos, Girona FC, Montevideo City Torque, Sichuan Jiuniu FC and Mumbai City FC - will compete in a series of matches and gaming challenges throughout the challenge
In what will be a day-long eSports festival of football, the action will get underway at 10am UK time with Melbourne City FC the first side to compete and wrap up at 6pm UK time when New York City take centre stage.
Fans will be able to watch all the action as it unfolds, with every game streamed on Twitch.tv/cfgfifachallenge
Among the other highlights to look out for, former City legend Joleon Lescott and ex-City starlet Pablo Maffeo, now with Girona FC, will both be in action with Maffeo taking on former City team-mate Aguero from 2pm.
Also, representing our Manchester City’s esports team in China, our first female professional FIFA player, Xiao Jie will make her debut at the challenge, supporting Sichuan Jiuniu FC’s efforts.
And for watching supporters, the innovative all-day challenge will also offer them the chance to donate to their club’s chosen charity, to help support COVID19 recovery efforts in their local area.
