The organisation’s Rocket League team placed fifth in the Europe rankings of the Paris Major Open which means the squad will now compete at the LAN Major event in the French capital from 20th May.
In the final open of the series, Open 6, City went into the two weekends of matches looking to retain our fifth-place spot.
We quickly advanced from Swiss Group A to the Group Stage and Playoff matches a week later.
After back-to-back top four finishes in Open 4 and Open 5, City trio Accro, Ejby and Seikoo, led by Noah, went into our upper bracket quarter-final against WIP Esports with confidence.
The team earned a hard-fought 3-2 win to see us progress to the upper bracket semi-final.
However, despite incredible gameplay which included narrow misses, City fell to a 3-2 loss to NOVO Esports.
A 3-2 defeat to GHT in the lower bracket semi-final meant our Open 6 run was done, earning an important two points in the Europe standings.
All City could do was wait and watch to see how Kaydop Corp, the team closest to taking the fifth and final spot for the Paris Major, faired.
Kaydop Corp qualified for the playoffs through the lower bracket and a 4-0 win over GriddyGoose meant momentum was on their side.
But a 4-0 defeat to Europe’s best, Team Vitality, meant Kaydop Corp picked up six points for their 5th/6th-place finish to total 16 points in the standings.
As a result, City placed fifth with 22 points and will now look to begin preparations for the Paris Major which will take place next month.
Not long after that, City will take part in our first-ever outing at the RLCS World Championship. They will take place in September as our Rocket League trio look to win a share of the $1,200,000 prize pool.
Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate Man City Esports for their latest achievement and wish the team the very best of luck at the Paris Major.
