The trio, Aston ‘Accro’ Smith, William ‘ejby’ Lorentzen and Christian ‘TempoH’ Mortensen will be looking to confirm City’s place in our first LAN event since the launch of the team back in December.
With the top of the table extremely tight, and plenty of points still up for grabs, City are in with a strong chance of qualifying.
Ahead of this weekend’s matches, here is everything you need to know about how we can qualify...
To qualify for the Boston Major, City must place in the top five of the EU-based points ranking system.
Our qualification journey started in Copenhagen for Open 1.
Accro, Ejby and TempoH earned five points from their top six finish at the Kick-Off weekend back in December, a strong debut outing for our new boys in blue.
In Open 2 of the Boston Major, Man City Esports made our way through the Swiss stage to the group stage, earning us an extra point for placing in the top 16.
In the group stage of Open 2, Man City needed just two series wins to make it through to the Top eight teams.
Our first match was against Dreifach-Reset and Man City came out on top with a 3-1 finish in the best of five.
However, in the Upper bracket Semi Finals we lost 3-1 to Gentle Mates, knocking us into the lower bracket.
We then faced a tough side in WYLDE but came out on top with a 3-1 series win, to qualify for the Top 8 teams fixtures the following day.
Having qualified through the lower bracket, it meant we faced a tougher route to make it to the final, especially with our first match-up against Open 1, Kick Off Weekend Champions, Karmine Corp.
This time the series was a best of seven and Man City fought hard trying to claw back with the series sitting at 3-1 to KC.
Accro, Ejby and TempoH showed great character to bring the series to 3-3, with game seven all to play for.
With a last-second goal, Karmine Corp prevailed and City were knocked out of the regional.
We now start Open 3 on eight points and joint sixth place in the Boston Major rankings.
A huge push is needed in Open 3 for us to have a chance to qualify for the Boston Major with the closest team being on 12 points.
Fans can watch our RLCS games live on our Twitch channel.
Everyone at Manchester City would like to wish TempoH, Accro and Ejby the very best of luck competing this weekend!
