Man City Esports are back in action this weekend as our Rocket League team compete at the RLCS Paris Major Open 6.

City’s trio Aston ‘Accro’ Smith, William ‘ejby’ Lorentzen and Seikoo have showcased some incredible talent in recents weeks as they have accrued 16 points in Europe across the Paris Major Opens 4 and 5.

Now, they head into Open 6 looking to secure our place in City’s first-ever LAN event, the Paris Major.

That begins with this weekend’s Swiss stage.

Before City take centre stage on Sunday afternoon, here is a round-up of our Paris Major journey so far…

First, how we got to being on the verge of our first top five Europe finish.

Open 4 saw City end our Swiss stage 3-1 and as a result progress to the Top 16 group stage and one point towards the Paris Major.

We took on Boston Major winners Gentlemates in our first game of the Top 16 and came out with a 3-0 win to move to the upper bracket semi-final before an unfortunate 3-2 defeat to Vitality which sent us into the lower bracket semi-final.

A 3-1 win over TRB saw us secure our place in the top eight and two more points on the board. A 4-3 win over Kaydop Corp and 4-1 triumph against Synergy put our pros into the top four European teams and a further four points under our belt.

We looked to secure our place in the final but another defeat to Vitality called time on Open 4 for City.

Open 5 was another incredible outing by Accro, ejby and Seikoo with City quickly advancing from the Swiss stage with a 3-0 win and a point for the Europe standings.

A 3-0 win over Erah Esports before a 3-0 defeat to Karmine Corp saw us fall to the lower bracket semi-final. A hard-fought 3-2 series win over Toad in the Hole earnt City vital points and a boost of confidence to see us beat GriddyGoose 4-0.

On the final day of Open 5, a 4-2 victory over WIP Esports secured a back-to-back top four finish for City, a proud moment for the Club. But, a semi-final defeat to Gentlemates saw us fall just short of our first-ever Open final.

It means City head into this weekend’s Swiss stage with 16 points and in fifth, six points ahead of sixth-place Kaydop Corp.

Just above City, Karmine Corp, Gentle Mates and Ninjas in Pyjamas are all joint second with 20 points.

It means this weekend’s matches are a must-watch as we look to move another step closer to a trip to Paris.
