Man City Esports FC Pro trio Jafonso, Matias Bonanno and Stingray have all qualified for the World Championship Play-Ins.

Each pro won an EU West Cup to help them on their journeys to securing a high placement in the FC Pro rankings and in turn a place in the prestigious competition.

Here is how Jafonso, Bonanno and Stingray won their respective EU West Cups on route to earning their ticket to Riyad…

STINGRAY

Stingray dominated the November Cup. Not only that, he did so by scoring what seemed like an impossible number of goals.

In Round 1 he beat Godrafa 15-11 before overcoming Yaskow 15-10 in Round 2.

Another outstanding performance in Round 3 included a 12-3 triumph over Manu Bachoore.

A tighter affair in the quarter-finals saw Stingray beat Illian Bouchi 9-8 before an 11-5 win against QRNA in the semi-final.

The final saw Stingray take on Leks. It was an exciting match-up in which our FC pro came out on top, winning 9-6.

Alongside points accumulated in the December and January cups, Stingray placed fist in the overall standings with 960 points.

BONANNO

Following in Stingray’s footsteps, Bonanno then won the December Cup.

The Argentine beat Jperes99 and Chris de Boer 11-5 and 11-8 respectively.

Bonanno then faced a familiar foe in Marleyyy, once again coming out on top in Round 3 with a  10-8 triumph.

Quarter-final victory over Illian Bouchi (14-5) and semi-final win against Leks (15-10) then set up a showpiece final.

Bonanno won 20-13 against Emre Yilmaz to help him later place third in the overall rankings with 870 points.

JAFONSO

To complete the trio of triumphs, Jafonso claimed the January Cup.

The summer signing beat RastaArtuur 11-10 in Round 1 before a more convincing victory against Romaninho in Round 2, beating him 15-9.

In Round 3, it took a 4-3 win on penalties for Jafonso to overcome Neat after an end-to-end 12-12 draw.

Through to the quarter-final, Jafonso won 16-15 against Levi de Weerd and then followed the result up with a fantastic 12-8 semi-final win over Tundi.

In the final, fighting for key points, Jafonso took first place with a 13-4 win over Yaskow.

And those points saw him climb to fourth in the overall rankings to become City’s third player to qualify for the Play-Ins and will also travel to Riyad in the summer.

City’s fourth FC pro, Guga, narrowly missed out on securing his place at the World Championship Play-Ins.

He placed fourth in the rankings in the LATAM South table. But you can still see Guga fight for a chance to qualify in the eLiga Portugal when he takes centre for Santa Clara.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate City’s FC pros on their latest accolades and wish them the very best of luck in their upcoming competitions.
