Both fixtures were called off due to the spread of Coronavirus, which has seen elite football in Britain suspended until Friday 3 April.
The Gunners were originally due to visit the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 11 March but, after the game was postponed, the Club donated all appropriate food due to be sold on matchday to two local charities, in conjunction with our catering partner, F3.
These were, The Longford Centre - a homeless prevention charity in Chorlton - and Open Kitchen Manchester, which takes food going to waste and utilises it at conferences and events, with the income generated going to local organisations who support people having a hard time.
City would have faced Burnley at the Etihad on Saturday 14 March and the food due to be prepared for this game has been shared between four local charities.
Home Community Cafe, Mellor County House, Mother Earth and Sale Methodist Church all received donations and we will continue to work with them all over the coming week as food continues to be logged.
We have also made a donation of flowers to Brookdale View Care Home in Newton Heath.
Due to the current climate, the care home is unable to accept visitors and so we have donated the flowers ordered for various locations around the Etihad for the Burnley game with the support of our local supplier, Springbank.
We hope this small gesture helps brighten Brookdale View for the residents at this difficult time.
