This year, the Club will show its continued support for the Royal British Legion by taking part in several remembrance activities, with a poppy motif set to adorn the shirts worn by the first team in their matches against Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
Meanwhile, the Women’s team will pay their respects during their trip to the Midlands on Saturday 6 November, when they play Leicester City in the league.
All the worn shirts from the Crystal Palace match will be collected and donated to the Royal British Legion, who will auction off them off to raise money for the charity.
Crystal Palace’s visit to the Etihad will also see the Club host its annual service in the Memorial Garden before kick-off, and both Pep Guardiola and former Cityzen Patrick Vieira will lay down a wreath pitchside before a performance of the Last Post and minute’s silence are observed.
Meanwhile, City youngsters will remember those lost in the wars when they face Manchester United’s Under-12 and Under-13s on Remembrance Day.
With the Premier League’s Academy Education Programme this season centred around the Christmas Truce, the two youth teams will hold a minute’s silence before kick-off, and after the match, the different Club Captains will exchange gifts with each other as a sign of respect and the lessons learned from that memorable match in 1914.
