This season, we have taken another step forward by adding an app to our Audio Descriptive Commentary (ADC) service, making it even easier for blind and partially sighted supporters to follow the action at the Etihad and Joie Stadiums.
Audio Descriptive Commentary provides a live, dedicated commentary feed that describes the match in rich detail - from player movement and tactical shape to the atmosphere inside the stadium - ensuring fans can experience every key moment.
We’ve offered ADC to our fans for 28 years, using handheld radio receivers available through the Club. While this option remains available, we have expanded the service to include a new app-based option, offering greater flexibility and convenience for fans who prefer to use their own devices.

The introduction of app-based access allows supporters to connect using their smartphone, reducing the need to remember specialist equipment, and enabling a more seamless matchday experience. The service continues to be delivered by our expert commentary team, ensuring the same high-quality, detailed coverage fans rely on.
The move reflects ongoing work across the Club to remove barriers and enhance the experience of disabled supporters. By offering more than one way to access Audio Descriptive Commentary, we aim to provide choice and independence while maintaining the reliability of our existing provision.
We worked with our blind and partially sighted fans to trial the app throughout the Autumn; asking existing users of our ADC service if they’d like to try the app, supporting them to get started, and taking their feedback after every game so that we could make improvements.
We shared the improvement with the Manchester City Disabled Supporters Association at their December Annual General Meeting to get their feedback and support, and have recently been able to offer the option to visiting fans in our away end.
Following this successful and collaborative trial, we’re delighted to fully launch this new service during this season’s Unite For Access campaign, which highlights the importance of equal access for disabled sports fans and celebrates the progress being made across football.
At Manchester City, we are proud to stand alongside supporters and partners in championing a matchday experience where everyone can feel part of the action.
