In the wake of Manchester City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title win, City in the Community (CITC), joined the celebrations at this year’s trophy parade.

Joining the players and staff along the route through Manchester City centre were three CITC participants, all a top a bus that featured drawings, good luck messages and designs from CITC participants, as well as the charity’s logo.

McKenzie, Summer and Cameron, all of whom are CITC participants across three different programmes, helped celebrate with Manchester City.

Summer attends our One City disability sessions every week. She loves coming to the sessions and has made many friends since starting and looks forward to seeing them.

Before the Easter and Christmas periods Summer decided she wanted to help others less fortunate than herself so started to raise money and collect gifts to hand out in her local community and beyond.

This is a selfless task to which she loves doing giving a purpose and a satisfaction knowing she has helped others.

Talking about her experience of the parade she said: “I’m really excited to be on the bus and see Jack Grealish! Thank you to Paul Kelly and everyone at CITC for this opportunity.

Cameron takes part in CITC sessions, after struggling in main-stream school. CITC coaches now work with Cameron to help him enjoy lessons and school.

Commenting on the sessions, he said: “CITC and my coach are the only reason I am now back in school full-time and enjoying it.”

McKenzie is a former City Careers Participant, who has used the skills gained on the course, to gain part-time employment with CITC under their outreach branch.

Starting on a Princes Trust course in partnership with CITC she was then invited to join the City Careers programme in summer 2022.

Not long after finishing the City Careers programme she successfully became a casual assistant BTEC coach and from their progressed into part-time employment.

Sitting under CITC’s Healthy Futures pillar, City Careers aims to support young people in education and into employment.
