Saturday marked a remarkable day for Manchester City with all four of our teams victorious.

In an action-packed day dubbed ‘Super Saturday’, both of our first-teams were in action – our men’s team hosting Chelsea in a crunch Premier League encounter and our women’s team visiting Aston Villa in the FA Women’s Super League – while our Elite Development Squad and Academy sides were also in action.

Our Under-18s kicked-off the day on a positive note, defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the U18 Premier League North in a game shown live on CITY+.

Substitute Luca Barrington was the match-winner claiming an 86th minute strike to seal all three points on Merseyside.

The victory ensured that Ben Wilkinson’s side kept up the pressure on leaders Blackburn with City second in the Under-18 Premier League North table, lying just two points behind Rovers.

Pep Guardiola’s men then triumphed 1-0 over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium with Kevin De Bruyne’s superb 70th-minute strike securing what was a 12th consecutive Premier League victory.

Our latest triumph saw City extend our lead at the top the Premier League table to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Gareth Taylor’s side returned to Manchester with three points, having beaten Aston Villa 3-0 at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium to maintain their perfect start to 2022.

Georgia Stanway struck twice with Vicky Losada also on target as fifth-placed City closed the gap on fourth-placed Spurs to just one point.

And our EDS squad then ensured it was a perfect day, capping off the football feast in superb fashion with a convincing 3-1 Manchester Derby victory in the evening, which was also broadcast live on CITY+.

James McAtee (penalty), Kayky and Oscar Bobb were all on target in the first half to move Brian Barry-Murphy’s team within two minutes of leaders West Ham in the PL2 table.

Congratulations to all of our teams on what has been an incredible day for the Football Club.
