The trio were all at the centre of an impressive month for both Pep Guardiola and Gareth Taylor’s sides, in which we won eight and drew two of our total matches.
A moment of typical brilliance from De Bruyne was enough to seal a crucial 1-0 win over title rivals Chelsea in January, with his sumptuous curling effort also earning City him the Nissan Goal of the Month award in the process.
The Belgian also chipped in with assists in our FA Cup Third Round win over Swindon and in the 1-1 Premier League draw with Southampton and is once again looking back to his talismanic best in the City midfield.
De Bruyne is up against Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, West Ham’s Jared Bowen, Leeds United’s Jack Harrison, Wolves midfielder Joao Moutinho and Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.
City duo Lauren Hemp and Georgia Stanway have also been shortlisted for the Women’s award having grabbed a combined 10 goals in just six matches across January.
Hemp was on target with a delicate chip in City’s 6-0 win over Brighton to start 2022, which was also been nominated for the FA Women’s Super League’s goal of the month award.
She then followed up that success with a brace in our 5-0 Continental Cup win over Leicester three days later, as City cruised into the quarter-finals.
Stanway, who is also up for the WSL Player of the Month award, was in equally impressive form, grabbing goals in victories over Brighton and Leicester as well as a brace in a 3-0 triumph over Aston Villa.
However, her finest moment would arrive in our final match of January, when a hat-trick in an 8-0 FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest saw her become City’s record goalscorer at the age of just 23.
Hemp and Stanway face stiff competition from Manchester United’s Leah Galton, West Ham’s Dagny Brynjarsdottir as well as Reading duo Emma Harries and Natasha Dowie for the award.
