Man City Esports’ Matias Bonanno will be fighting for the Esports World Cup title on August 15-17 in a chance to win a third trophy since he joined the Club last summer.

Alongside Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt, Man City Esports won the ePremier League title for a history-making second time. Mati’s second piece of silverware came when he won Dreamhack Summer which secured his place at the Esports World Cup.

And in one of the most exciting competitions in the FC24 calendar, Bonanno will take on some of the best pros in the scene in Riyadh and here is all you need to know about the competition and our potential route to the final.

The 16 finalists have been placed into two groups of eight with a best of one round robin set-up.

Mati is in Group B alongside World Championship winner Anders Vejrgang from RBLZ Gaming, FC Pro Open and KPN eDivisie champions PHzin – who just transferred to the Saudi eLeague for a record fee.

Mati will also take on eLibertadores winner NathanSR99, last season’s World Champion Manu Bachoore, eLaLiga winner Nicolas99fc, Msdosary and Goalpoacher who represents 1J, Norwich’s esports team.

In what is a difficult group, Mati will be looking to place in the top three to advance to the Playoffs.

There is also the Resurrection Stage which players who finish fourth to sixth will be given a second chance to qualify for the final eight.

In the Playoffs, the eight finalists will compete for the all-important title with three more matches in the way between the pros and the trophy.

Fans will be able to follow the event, and Mati, live on Twitch. For regular updates on Mati’s matches, check out our X channel: @ManCityEsports.
