Earlier this year, Manchester City and Midea collaborated to launch a global community football initiative which aims to educate local youth about football, leadership, and sustainability, helping them feel at home on and off the pitch.

Beginning in Sao Paulo, Brazil, over the last few months the latest phase of the project in Bandung, Indonesia has been delivered.

With support from club charity, City in the Community (CITC), this project will engage 30 Young Leaders and 500 children from the local community. The Young Leaders join a global network trained by CITC coaches to use football as a tool to empower healthier lives for city youth.

The project focuses on giving vulnerable young people a safe space to play, learn and feel at home whilst addressing social inequalities by empowering Young Leaders to provide a safe space for discussion and education in their communities.

To celebrate, together with Midea Electronics Indonesia, the club hosted an event at the Rumah Cemara project centre featuring an opening ceremony and performance by local freestyle footballers. Midea also donated 50 home appliances, including air conditioners, and washing machines, to the project centre.

These donations will help create a comfortable and safe environment for the Young Leaders and community members to conduct their football sessions.
