Manchester City recently welcomed Kings of Leon drummer and loyal City fan Nathan Followill to the Etihad Stadium.

The Grammy award winning band from Nashville, Tennessee, were in town to perform at the new state-of-the-art Co-op Live Arena, situated in Manchester’s newest Entertainment destination currently being built at the Etihad Campus.

Commenting in the lead up to the gig, Nathan commented, “Don’t think I haven’t already sorted out a little visit to the home of my favourite squad. I will get decked out too.

“It’s so funny, one of our good friend’s family are involved with another Premier League team in London. When we had kids, they would send us their kit for each baby, as soon as they were born.

More on our Etihad Campus plans

I was like ‘No! Return to sender!’ We only wear powder blue in my house.

“Whenever I post about City on social media I get all these people going ‘oh you glory hunter’ and all that, but in 2006, which was the year I started watching them and being a fan, there were no trophies.

“We only won 11 matches all season. When I was a kid, it was always that light blue colour for me.”

During his visit to the Etihad, Nathan was also shown the Club’s ambitious plans for a new £300m best-in-class fan experience and year-round entertainment and leisure destination at the Etihad Stadium.

Nathan said of the entertainment destination: “It looks like its own Olympic village. Amazing. Phenomenal.”

Approved proposals are centred around an expanded North Stand, increasing the Etihad Stadium capacity to over 60,000.

The new entertainment destination will include a stunning new sky bar with views overlooking the pitch, a stadium roof walk experience and a covered City Square fan zone, with capacity for 3,000 people.

In addition, the new development will also boast a wide variety of food and drink outlets, a new club shop, museum experience, commercial office space and a 400-bed hotel, which will be the biggest in Manchester.
