£21,000 of that money has been presented to City in the Community, whilst £10,000 has been used to provide financial support to the Ukraine-based Beregovo branch whose members continue to be affected by the war in their country.
A further £5,000 was split evenly between the Club’s Former Players Association and local non-league team, Maine Road FC, which was founded by City supporters in 1955.
The Chorlton-based side, who ply their trade in the North West Counties League Division One South, received a further £1,000 from the Norway and Denmark branch, who also bought £500 worth of kit for the club and donated £700 to City in the Community in May.
In total, the Official Supporters Club has raised £38,200 during the past year.
The money was presented to the various beneficiaries at their Annual General Meeting (AGM), where 140 members were in attendance from 47 branches, which included representatives from as far afield as Scandinavia, Costa Blanca and Hawaii.
Joe Corrigan received the £2,500 cheque on behalf of the Former Players Association, whilst Alex Williams collected £16,000 of the money raised for City in the Community, with £5,000 having already been donated back in January.
“The partnership between Manchester City OSCs and City in the Community helps us continue to improve the lives of thousands of young people and adults throughout Greater Manchester,” said City in the Community Ambassador Alex Williams.
“This year, the funds will be allocated to our City Thrive programme, which offers people under the age of 25 access to mental health support in partnership with the NHS.
“I feel very proud and honoured, when I visit supporter clubs, informing them of the work delivered by the charity due to their support!”
Representatives from Maine Road Football Club, Help for Heroes and Manchester Food Bank were also present, with money and food having been donated to the Food Bank at Christmas and again at the AGM.
Ian Arnfield, Charity Officer of the Official Supporters Club, added: “I am proud and privileged to be the Charities Officer for the OSC.
“The generosity of our branches and its members never ceases to amaze me.
“At a time when almost everybody is struggling with their own finances, they always find time to reach into their own pockets.”
