Shaun Wright-Phillips was the guest of honour as 40 branches from around the world came together prior to City’s 5-0 win over Norwich City in August.
The event was held in recognition of our Official Supporters Club’s support and commitment throughout the previous 18-months, when the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic prevented them from following City and engaging with the Club in the way they usually would.
More than 100 fans attended the CFA, where Wright-Phillips took part in a question-and-answer session hosted by City Square presenter Danny Jackson.
Manchester City Operations Managing Director, Danny Wilson, and Roel De Vries, Group Chief Operating Officer of the City Football Group, were also in attendance, fielding questions as they welcomed members back for the new season.
“We were delighted to welcome the Official Supporters Club to City Football Academy for this special event ahead of our first home match of the new season,” said Wilson.
“It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces after such a long period of time and have the opportunity to thank Official Supporters Club members for their continued loyal support.
“We hope that everyone had a fantastic day.”
The Premier League and Carabao Cup trophies City won in 2020-21 were on display, providing fans with the opportunity to get a priceless selfie alongside the silverware.
“It was so good to hear from the executives at City, to see Shaun and to meet with supporters from other branches. The whole day was brilliant from start to finish,” said Mo and Sid, representatives of the Flixton Branch.
Judy, from the Wilmslow branch, added: “A big thank you on behalf of the members of the Wilmslow branch that attended the event yesterday.
“We all had an excellent time as did the other members that we met and spoke to.”
