Many of City’s Official Supporters Club branches from all around the world have been playing their part to support Cityzens Giving for Recovery, City Football Group’s transformative initiative aimed at bringing staff and fans together to help our communities get back on their feet in the wake of the pandemic.

As part of Cityzens Giving for Recovery, we are matching donations for the funding of nine recovery-linked projects near each of our clubs (up to a total of £500,000 matched against all donations received on or by 31 August).

Our Official Supporters Clubs have been supporting CITC in Manchester for many years now and raise significant amounts of funds for our charity every season.

This year, as part of the Cityzens Giving for Recovery campaign, all of the funds raised by our Official Supporters Clubs will be donated to a new project focusing on the mental health and wellbeing of thousands of young people across Manchester.

Meanwhile, members of Bengaluru Cityzens in India made their own special contribution via a special raffle with the star prize of a special kit signed by City midfielder Rodrigo.

Bengaluru Cityzens decided to donate the money raised to Cityzens Giving for Recovery as it mirrored their twin aims of supporting a cause that would both appeal to members and help make a larger impact in the community.

“Cityzens Giving for Recovery provided just the opportunity we needed to get involved locally as well as globally. We made our donation to the Mumbai project since it is close to home and close to our hearts,” said Desrie Dsouza from Bengaluru Cityzens.

In total, the branch raised 535 US dollars with half coming from the raffle and the remainder donated by members. The funds will help provide internet access at digital learning centres which will keep hundreds of local children in Mumbai connected to education.

The event followed hard on the heels of a hugely successful virtual fundraising evening led by members of the New York Sky Blues, City’s OSC in Manhattan, which saw them raise more than $17,000 for the New York Common Pantry and City in the Community New York projects to provide over 8,000 free healthy meals for residents in the South Bronx and nutrition education through football. .

With the help of an exclusive Q&A with City legend Paul Dickov, the New York Sky Blues attracted over 46 virtual attendees to the online event — along with several other City fans from around the world all donating online.

Over on the other side of the world, the Melbourne Blues are already fundraising for the Cityzens Giving Recovery project in Melbourne which will support children returning to education through the provision of healthy food, nutrition education and free football and physical activity sessions.

“This year we will renew all our members free of charge and will ask those able to instead donate their membership renewal fees to Cityzens Giving Recovery,” revealed General Secretary, Steve Bardsley.

“We will also hold an auction/raffle to raise funds.”

Meanwhile, Tanya Davies from the Sydney branch of the OSC, says members will be holding a special raffle of a signed Melbourne kit and will be working with the team at City in the Community Melbourne to also help raise funds for the Melbourne project.
