Ahead of our Treble Trophy Tour stop to Indonesia, we recently spoke with our Official Supporters Clubs about their support and what City means to fans in the country.

We now have six branches across Indonesia, with all except the Jakarta Blues branch being made official ahead of the 23/24 season.

Speaking to Heratuma, the Chair of the newly established Bandung branch said: “The existence of the group was started when me and some Oasis fans in Bandung gathered to watch City matches in 2011 and the rest is history.

“It’s our dream to become part of City, even being more than 10,000km away. Becoming a branch of the Official Supporters Club is a way for us to get closer to our favourite club and gather more City fans in Bandung.

“We hope we can come to Manchester to watch the club live one day.”

Like Bandung, the Jakarta Blues have supported the team long before becoming an Official Supporters Club.

We spoke with Indra, the branch’s General Secretary who said that ‘the Jakarta Blues first got together in 2013.

We have always striven to be a platform for City fans, especially in Jakarta to share information about the Club they love, ranging from joint activities in the form of sports, discussions and watching together.’

He continued to explain that ‘the euphoria is always great and there are always fun moments whether we win, draw, or lose. 10 years after first getting together, we decided to become an Official Supporters Club in Indonesia because we felt the moment was right while celebrating our anniversary.

Incidentally, City won the treble at the end of our first season of being an Official branch. What a sweet moment!’

Lastly, we spoke with another one of our new Official Supporters Clubs, Makassar.

Speaking to Chair, Rifaldi, he too spoke about the branch’s long-term support and what it means becoming an Official branch of the Supporters Club.

He said: “2009/2010 was the beginning of Man City‘s time in the eyes of some young English football fans in Indonesia.

“The peak was in 2011 when Mancini brought in Sergio Aguero.”

Asked about how the group came together, Rifaldi said: “around that time, I and a friend at campus took the initiative to look for MCFC fan clubs in Makassar at that time, looking for information via Twitter.

“After talking about it for a long time, we agreed to hold the first watch party on September 18 2011 when City played Fulham (2-2).

“At that time only 5 people attended, namely Calva, me, Edwin, Fadli, and Mas Ryan. The initial step was to form a chat group to facilitate communication between members.

“We want to show the world that in the city of Makassar there are also fans who are crazy about Manchester City, even though the distance between Manchester and us is far. We continue to support it through the small screen/TV by holding joint viewings together.

“With our official presence, we hope to be directly involved with Manchester City itself.”

We’re excited to see the fan base grow in Indonesia and for our Treble Trophy Tour stop to the country in September.
