Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji and Cole Palmer surprised students who were learning all about what makes a good citizen at their session, joining in on the conversation.
Akanji and Palmer spoke to participants about the qualities that they believe make a good footballer and help them work as a team on and off the pitch, before answering questions and signing programmes for students to take away from the day.
Nicola Pennill, from Etchells Primary School, said: “It was an amazing experience getting to meet the players. The children’s faces when they entered the room will stay with me forever.”
One student said: “This is the best day I’ve ever had in school.”
CITC’s Premier League Primary Stars programme is delivered to five to 11-year-olds across Greater Manchester, with the aim of upskilling teachers around delivering PE and school sport.
CITC coaches work with pupils to build on their physical and social development.
Coaches are able to adapt their approach, the content and physical activity sessions in order to best meet the requirements of the school/group that they are working with.
