During his visit, the former striker took the opportunity to meet with supporters from our Mumbai Official Supporters Club – one of the Club’s largest international branches with nearly 300 members.
Paul greeted supporters with the Premier League trophy and took part in a Q+A session with the Club’s Chair Shreyas Sangvih, who asked questions about his career, the current city squad, and how he was finding his latest visit to the Indian city.
Earlier in the trip, Paul watched the team’s 2-1 win over Fulham and celebrated Erling Haaland’s late penalty amongst fellow City fans.
While the visit centred around 30 years of the Premier League, it also recognised another significant milestone for the Premier League, with its Premier Skills programme celebrating its 15th year anniversary.
The global educational programme provides learning opportunities for participants looking to get into coaching and refereeing. In turn, the initiative aims to provide people with the skills and support to develop their own community projects.
Throughout the years, Manchester City Academy and City in The Community coaches have supported the sessions but this time it was Paul Dickov’s turn to take part in a session during his visit.
The session, led by Tanaz, a Premier Skills coach working for Mumbai City FC, saw Paul and the kids take part in passing and shooting drills. Later that evening, at the Premier League’s 30th Anniversary Gala, Paul presented her with a Community Captains award alongside Ranveer Singh, one of India’s biggest Bollywood stars.

Several representatives from OSCAR Foundation, who the Club supports through its global Cityzens Giving programme, were also called up on stage to receive special Community Captain armbands and banners.
Among those recognised was Netra, a Young Leader with OSCAR who visited Manchester for the Cityzens Giving Global Young Leaders Summit in June. The Foundation uses football as a tool to instil the value of education in children and youth from low-income communities in India.
