Meet the Poznan Blues Official Supporters Club

The city of Poznań is already well known to many City fans around the world for the iconic celebration that proudly shares its name.

For branch Chair Jakub, his journey with City began fifteen years ago, inspired by one of the Club’s greatest-ever players.

“It all started with the transfer of David Silva in 2010. He was my favourite player at the time. I was 20 years old, playing for Lech Poznań in a similar position to him. I was impressed by his technique and his excellent left foot”

Jakub’s first meeting with Manchester City came soon after, when Silva and the Blues visited Poznań in the UEFA Europa League.

“It was a huge event for me, even though I was recovering from ACL reconstruction at the time and watched the match on TV. After that, I started following City even more closely.”

Two years later, Jakub made his first visit to the Etihad Stadium and it was there that his love for the Club was sealed.

“I’ll never forget my first visit in December 2012, the derby against United. Unfortunately, we lost, but it was the moment I fell in love with the club for good. The wonderful atmosphere, the vibe, and the players. I felt a strong bond that lasts to this day.”

Since then, Jakub has travelled to Manchester regularly and followed the team with passion from home.

“I feel deeply connected to our club, to the blue colours, and I want to be part of this great family. I get goosebumps every time ‘Let’s all do the Poznań’ is chanted at the stadium. It forever connects my hometown and my hometown club with Manchester City.”

That bond, and the growing number of City fans in the region inspired Jakub to take the next step and form an Official Supporters Club branch.

“Over the years, more of my friends started supporting City and travelled to matches with me. This inspired me to start Poznań Blues. I want to bring together fans from my region, watch matches together, build a community, and promote Manchester City as much as possible in Poland and around the world.”

The branch already has big plans. From matchday meet-ups to creating their own OSC merchandise, including a custom-designed flag currently in the works.

“I want every member to feel part of this fan club, as if they were part of a family. I hope that together, we’ll experience many unforgettable moments thanks to the players and the entire Manchester City family.”
