The event – which celebrated the Young Leaders and their contribution to the Cityzens Giving network – took place at the home of Dignity for Children Foundation, a charity partner of Cityzens Giving since 2015.
Over 100 people were in attendance for the exciting arrival, including Young Leaders, project participants, coaches and the co-founders of Dignity.
Reflecting on the significance of the visit, Petrina Satvinder, Co-Founder & CEO of Dignity for Children Foundation, commented: “It is an utmost inspiration to be able to see the trophy in front of the young people at Dignity.
“Thank you, Manchester City, for the years of partnership and making it so special for the children.”
This season, the Young Leaders, who all use football to uplift the health of city youth, have joined Xylem Water Heroes Academy – a joint initiative by Manchester City’s global community programme, Cityzens Giving, and Global Water Technology Partner, Xylem.
Thanusha is one of the Young Leaders involved in educating children on water, sanitation, and hygiene through football.
Speaking about the experience of welcoming the trophy, she said: “It was truly amazing to be part of the event, especially getting to see the trophy for ourselves.
“It was an eye-opening event, particularly for the kids when they got to learn more about the work we have done through our partnership with Manchester City.
“I hope this has given everyone a chance to reflect on how important a part we play in transforming the lives of many people through football.”
Water Heroes Academy projects are using football in a range of creative ways to tackle water challenges in ten cities around the world.
