The total items donated is equivalent to the thousands of participants supported by City in the Community during the 2024/25 season.
The kits will be distributed across all of the charity’s 22 programmes in Greater Manchester over the coming weeks, including 121 schools and nursery settings.
PUMA has also donated thousands of additional kits in support of City in the Community fundraising initiatives for the coming year.
City in the Community Chief Executive, Mike Geary, said: “We are extremely grateful for PUMA’s remarkable donation, which will have wide reaching impact across Greater Manchester.
“Outside of the educational settings, the items will be donated to young people across our community outreach programmes, such as ‘One City’ disability, ‘City Onside’ at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, ‘City Girls’ and more.
“The City in the Community matchday brings together the Club, its partners, players, fans and staff in celebration of our charity. This donation is a shining example of what we can achieve when we all share one important mission – empowering healthier lives through football.”
PUMA Vice President, Teamsport, Dominique Gathier, added: “’We’re proud to support Manchester City and City in the Community with this kit donation. Contributing to programmes that make a real difference across Greater Manchester reflects what PUMA stands for as a brand.
“Working closely with local communities and giving back through football is something we truly value, and we believe the power of the game can help inspire healthier, more inclusive futures for young people. We’re delighted to play our part in supporting the charity’s vital work across so many programmes.”
Earlier this week, it was announced that this year’s Community Matchday is also being bolstered by the Manchester City men’s squad who, led by the Captain’s group, have made a financial donation to the charity for the second year running.
Last season’s donation supported the charity’s Soccer Schools programme, reaching almost 700 children across 465 hours of free football.
This year, funds will be used to cover the cost of City in the Community’s ‘City Mentoring’ programme for 12 months, providing 1-2-1 support for vulnerable young people who need extra support and guidance due to negative factors within their lives.
The players will also be wearing City in the Community branded walk-out jackets ahead of kick-off, which will be signed and auctioned off in aid of the charity.
PUMA player, Mateo Kovačić, commented on the brand’s donation, saying: “It makes me very proud to hear that PUMA has donated enough kits to support the total number of people supported by City in the Community.
“The team and I are very aware of the positive impact the charity has across Greater Manchester, so it’s great to see everyone come together in support, ahead of the Community Matchday.”
Elsewhere on the day, fans will be able to access bonus community content, including within the matchday programme, during half-time and across digital channels.
The fixture will also see the return of the popular ‘hand-drawn’ graphics on social media, as local school children were once again invited to draw their favourite Manchester City stars.
The stadium, which is being renamed ‘The City in the Community Etihad Stadium’ for the day, will come alive with charity branded banners before kick-off.
Those travelling to the stadium via matchday tram and bus routes might also notice a familiar voice, as Ruben Dias takes over the announcement system to help profile City in the Community.
Once again, the day is being used to create once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for City in the Community participants, including team photo spaces, announcing players off the bus on the blue carpet, presenting on the Matchday Live Show and joining the media teams.
