Manchester City’s Rico Lewis and Kerstin Casparij have both been named as the Club’s PFA Community Champions.
Lewis and Casparij have both taken part in City in the Community (CITC) sessions over the last 12 months, supporting its work to empower healthier lives through football.
In January, Lewis took part in a City Play quiz alongside fellow City star, Oscar Bobb. The pair went head-to-head answering quiz questions from our City Play participants, with Bobb coming out on top, beating Lewis in the tie-breaker round.
Commenting on the CITC sessions, he said: “The community and City in the Community are at the heart of Manchester City. It is so important to be able to support their provisions that are giving back to people across Greater Manchester and making a lasting impact on the youth of today.”
Casparij attended a City Careers session where she took part in a barista masterclass with Tom, a participant who gained work experience in a coffee shop through the City Careers programme.
Commenting on meeting Kerstin, Tom said: “Spending time with Kerstin was an amazing experience, the conversation we had about CITC was great, we chatted about careers for young adults, and I felt like she made time to motivate me with my journey and spoke to me as if she were a great friend!”
Commenting on the award, she said: “I loved visiting the City Careers sessions and meeting Tom to make coffee.
“It is great to see City in the Community providing opportunities for people to develop their personal and professional skills, helping to create Healthy Futures for them.”
The PFA Community Champion award aims to raise awareness of the great support the PFA members provide to their Club’s community activities during the season.
