City’s Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup honours travelled to the southern hemisphere following successful visits to Greece, China, India, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.
The quadruple of trophies first arrived in Sydney and visited students at Mosman Preparatory School. They then headed to Bondi Icebergs club and swimming pool for a photo opportunity before moving over to Bondi Beach.
Greeting them on their arrival was a sea of hundreds of blue shirts at the lifeguard tower and a mix of families and football fans who had their photos taken with the major honours.
A trip to Waverley College followed before the trophies visited a Puma event at the Rebel Sports store in Paramatta, the heart of football in Sydney, where 402 passionate supporters had the opportunity to take photos with them.
To conclude an action-packed first day, our Official Supporters Club held a well-attended event, where the atmosphere continued to build all evening.
The following day, the Club organised a surprise for lifelong fan John Cretney to be joined by our four trophies at his home.
John was sadly diagnosed with a terminal illness earlier this year and he was sent a video message by John Stones which provided a moment which the Cretney family will treasure forever.
He’s never missed a live, televised game, and that’s quite an undertaking when it’s being played some nearly 17,000 km away.
At the end of day two, the trophies made their way to Melbourne.
The third day began with a City in the Community event at St Pauls Apostle North in Endeavour Hills where 175 primary school children alongside their teachers and federal MP Julian Hill were able to see the trophies.
A visit to our new Melbourne CFA and Parade college followed before another Official Supporters Club event. Held at The Imperial Tavern, 452 fans attended – a record for the Melbourne branch.
To conclude a wonderful trip, over 650 children and parents combined attended our fan event at Ultra Football.
Lucky supporters were given artwork from a street artist who painted the trophies alongside PUMA prize packs and tickets to Melbourne City’s first Men’s and Women’s home matches.
The tour was a real success. The Supporter clubs in Sydney and Melbourne had record turnouts and nights to remember.
We visited all three official Man City Football Schools, had a great City in the Community event in South East Melbourne and a really good Puma event at the Rebel Sports store in West Sydney with new and old City fans attending
Thanks for having us, Australia!
